ALT+TAB Buggy in IE7
Has anyone else noticed that IE7 doesn’t let you switch through your active program windows easily using the ALT+TAB function? Is it just me?
While I’m blogging I switch between windows very frequently getting information, quotes and links for my posts. Is this just a quirk with IE7 and WordPress?
Anyone else experiencing this challenge?

Absolutely, it’s really annoying and doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Yep. I just installed IE7 and it did the same to me. Searched for articles about it but didn’t find many. Now it works though. Odd.

Yup, getting the same problem here too with it. I’m using the PowerToy that shows a small copy of the window as you tab through them, so I thought it was perhaps a problem with that at first, but i guess not!

From what I can tell the issue is related to the menu bar showing up when you press ALT. Maybe if they added a filter to exclude ALT+TAB the issue would go away.

I find this issue particularly annoying since it does not occur all the time. I’ve also experimented with leaving the ALT+TAB menu up with the application I wish to switch to highlighted; sometimes this allows the context to switch.

This seems to occur whenever the cursor appears as a text cursor on a web page. Very annoying, as copying text from a spreadsheet to a web form is one of the more frequent operations I perform and ALT-TAB is a great time (and tendonitis) saver.

Having the same problem. When I edit any website I switch a lot between IE7 and UltraEdit.
Switching from IE7 to UltraEdit is hangs up. (sometimes CTRL+ALT+DEL resolves the hangup.
Switching from any program to IE7 is no problem.

It’s the menu bar. I noticed that if you turn the menu bar back on the alt-tab works just fine again…. but now you have an extra row of tools.

This bug shows up only on my Athlon64 desktop computer (Windows XP Professional - not x64 version), but there is no such problem on my Centrino laptop (Windows XP Home). Making menu bar always visible doesn’t help for me. Can work again after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete and moving Task Manager or else it stays for 5 sec if I click somewhere and doesn’t disappear at all if I just wait. That’s ultra-annoying, but I got solution - switching back to FF.

Maybe that’s some other program cause it? I switched off MouseImp Pro Live! and PenCommander and bug haven’t appeared yet.
