Auto-Correct for "HSA" Ignoring Me

by Jason Bean on January 11th, 2008

I’ve set Microsoft Word 2007 to ignore words in UPPERCASE, but when I type “HSA” as in Healthcare Savings Account, it keeps telling me I’ve spelled “has” wrong.

What else do I need to do to stop telling it to ignore words in UPPERCASE or specifically “HSA”. I don’t want it to ignore me if I do actually misspell “has” as “hsa” though.

I had this problem arise just the other day. My first reaction was just to uncheck the option “Check spelling as you type” under Spelling & Grammar; however, this meant that no autocorrection would be done. Instead I went back to AutoCorrect and removed hsa from the list to correct. Spell check will now find hsa but not HSA and autocorrect still works for other words.
