Microsoft Launches “MySpace” for IT Pros

MySpace isn’t quite the best comparison for a new service launched by Microsoft called Aggreg8. It’s a social/professional networking site that’s dedicated more to the IT pros and their working relationships and partners.
Aggreg8 is a social networking and collaboration space for the IT community. Inside you can keep track of your trusted network, find […]

Microsoft Offers Free Sender ID

Something absolutely needs to start changing about e-mail and spam. Hopefully this type of thing will be the spark that ignites more and more development in this arena.
Microsoft Corp. has made its Sender ID framework for email authentication license free.
As of Monday, the technology is available through the software maker’s Open Specification Promise, which […]

Windows Mail Replaces Outlook Express

An area that hasn’t gotten much press with all the talk about Vista, IE7 and the new Office 2007, is lowly Outlook Express.
The Lifehacker site has a great gallery of screen shots and details about the application. Gina Trapani wasn’t too impressed with the developments although she did state it was still a nice upgrade […]

My Favorite IE7 Feature So Far

I may have just found my favorite feature of all for IE7. The “Add Tab Group…” and “Open Tab Group..” feature. I regularly open the same group of websites everyday when I start up my computer:

Yahoo! Mail
Gmail
Bloglines
iWon
Fox Fantasy Sports

I also regularly open all of the my Admin panels to WordPress at the same time, or […]

Forgetting About Firefox

I’ve been using IE7 now almost exclusively since downloading the final version this week. I’ve already posted that there are some things I like about it compared to Firefox.
Another feature I like is the full-page view of all open tabs.

I’m sure there was a Firefox extension that let me do that as well. That brings […]

I’m getting tired of "Windows Live…."

I love the products, I’m just getting tired of everything beginning with “Windows Live…”
Would there be any confusion if it were just “Live…” so, maybe something like this:

Windows Live Writer = LiveWriter
Windows Live Search = LiveSearch
Windows Live Messenger = LiveMessenger
Windows Live Mail = LiveMail

Is that too simple? Why wouldn’t that work?

Another Blogger Exists Microsoft

Niall Kennedy is the latest mainstream blogger to be leaving Microsoft, of course following Robert Scoble.
Niall was working on some of the various feed features being worked on in coordination with the Windows Live developments. He’s only been there 5 months, April to August.
The Windows Live initiative got off to a huge start, with lots […]

Building a Better Browser (for Pocket PC)

I’m really enjoying having the web on my PPC-6700. I’ve discovered that Gmail and Bloglines works great with the device.
The reason they work so great? Because both sites recognize I’m connecting with a mobile device and adjust their display to work with the smaller screen size and functionality of the device itself.
I’d still like to […]

Windows Media Photo

What do you think? Is this really needed? Here are some opinions, then I’ll share my own:
“While the half the size of a JPG is interesting, it’s largely irrelevant in my opinion,” blogged Thomas Hawk, a San Francisco-based digital media enthusiast and author of the “Digital Media” blog. “Flash memory and hard drive storage cost […]

OneCare Faces Some Competition

Did anyone doubt that Microsoft would face some competition in the anti-virus security space with the release of OneCare? Is this really news?
Symantec’s Norton 360 and McAfee’s Falcon both will offer services similar to OneCare, which launched on Wednesday, promising protection against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software as well as help with improving PC […]
