Keep the Internet Open

Fight the apathy and take action on this, it will impact everyone.
The Internet brings you unrestricted access to information, low-cost services, and innovative new products. You go where you want, buy what you want, and use any services you need. As long has you have an Internet connection, no one can stop you. Until now.

Microsoft Live Mail

I’ve been beta testing Microsoft Live mail although now it’s pretty much publicly available. The interface is a little improvement over the old Hotmail, but it’s still nowhere near enough for me to even think about switching away from my Gmail or Yahoo! account.
Right now I’m really only using my Live mail account as my […]

What day is it?

If you have been disconnected for the past couple of weeks, you’re probably not aware that Google released a new calendar tool. I’ve been quite impressed with the Google Calendar. I like the layout, it’s simple to use and the look and feel is great. The standard “user friendly” Google stuff is there too.
What I […]

Windows Mobile 5.0 and ActiveSync 4.1 Challenges

I got a new smart phone today, the problem is it’s being pretty dumb and irritating the fire out of me. I know I risk large amounts of ridicule by posting this on here, but hey, I’m not afraid to fire back at Microsoft for some things they really need to get fixed.
I’m on Sprint […]

Can Microsoft’s Messenger Catch Up?

Paul Stamatiou posted some great thoughts on his site about why Microsoft’s Live Messenger has a long way to go before they understand what it takes to compete in the IM client wars.
I don’t think Paul is too far off at all when he makes the comment below:
The only way I would even consider using […]

Outlook Express Train Out of Town?

Could Outlook Express be going the way of the dinosaur; replaced by swifter, more agile animals that can adjust more to their new environment and other surroundings? That could be just what’s in store based on this article discussing another new change in the appearance of Microsoft products tied to the pending release of Windows […]

Windows Live ID

The new Microsoft Windows Live ID is position to become an even more effective tool for identity confirmation online. This won’t just be an upgrade to the existing Passport. I believe this type of authentication should become an even more stringent tool to assist in eliminating online identity theft (as well as offline) and should […]

Microsoft and SPAM

If Microsoft is interested in reducing spam, they need to make it easier to whitelist their newsletter e-mail addresses.
Addresses like 20_29410_mxl6eQ3o1TsND1DKZT08bw@newsletters.microsoft.com don’t make it easy at all! I can’t whitelist an entire domain on Gmail! Guess that could be Microsoft’s way of encouraging me to use Hotmail more.

Windows Live Mail Beta

Before I took over the Microsoft Weblog, I posted this entry on a hack to join the Microsoft Live Mail beta program. So, instead of rewriting the whole thing, I’ll just link to it again from here. As far as I know, the link and process still works for signing up.
Enjoy

Meeting of the E-mail Guru’s

First let me thank Jon for my introduction to the Windows Weblog reading community. I’m excited about taking the reigns of another b5media blog and running with it.
For my first post to the blog I thought I’d share this little bit of information that I read today from Matt over at 37Signals. He recently had […]
