Microsoft Customer Service - What’s the Deal?

I was speaking to a friend and fellow blogger, Shea, who shared with me a recent experience she had while trying to deal with someone within Microsoft’s customer service and tech support structure.
Here’s what was shared:
It was a pretty basic call - I was at work, installing Office 2003 (yeah, we’re old school) on my […]

What is Microsoft "Albany"

Has anyone else been hearing information about a new product entering beta (or is it alpha) testing?
A recent article by Mary Jo Foley shared a few different options of what it could be:

the latest version of Microsoft Works that may or may not be advertisement funded
a new package of “Authoring” components that would include Word, […]

It’s been a few weeks now since I got the invite to download, install and begin using Xobni. I’ve got to tell you folks, this very well may be one of the most ingenious applications ever added into a member of the Microsoft Office family.
In a quick summary; Xobni incorporates itself into Outlook […]

Office 2007 Service Pack 1 Update Failures Continue

Okay, I’m really getting more and more irritated that this update is not working. I’ve tried everything that’s been mentioned by people in comments. I’ve also researched Microsoft’s Knowledge Base articles to look for solutions as well.
Today, again… I tried to download and install the update manually. First I downloaded the 218MB Office 2007 SP1 […]

Help! Can’t Open a Microsoft Publisher File

Have I shared recently (or ever) how much Microsoft Office Publisher irritates me? First there’s the file size of the end resulting file itself. Those suckers are massive. I used to get the files regularly from web clients and their questions would be:

Can you open a Publisher file?
How can I e-mail this to you?

When […]

You Choose: Cheap Office or Web-Office?

Would some of the folks clamoring for Microsoft to release a completely Web-based version of its Office suite be just as happy if Microsoft released a stripped-down Office that was really cheap, or maybe even free and advertising-supported?

That’s the intro of a recent article by Mary Jo Foley. Seems to be a pretty logical and […]

Failed Updates Again - KB932471 and Office 2007 SP1

I’m still getting failed updates for these two items. Anyone got any new suggestions for how to get these successfully installed yet?
I’ve turned off my anti-virus, Windows Live OneCare. I’ve turned everything else off I can think of and I still can’t get these two updates to complete successfully.
Maybe I’m too anal about this […]

Office 14? What happened to Office 13?

Maybe I’m just missing something but news about the functionality of Office 14 is coming out and aren’t we still on Office 12? See, one of the first blogs I wrote for b5media was called Office 12 Watch and it was all about Office 2007 before it was released and named Office 2007. Now we’re […]

I couldn’t live without….

The question was presented to me by my channel editor at b5 for an upcoming theme across the channel.
My immediate thought was that I couldn’t live without Windows Live Writer now. I’ve become so used to the application that my productivity around blogging and expressing my thoughts and creativity are enmeshed through-out the app. As […]
