Domain Name Ownership - IE7.COM
How’d Microsoft let this one slip by? Wouldn’t you think they’d register pretty much any variation of a new project/application’s name?
It’s not what you’d expect.

I don’t know. I mean, right now it seems like a no brainer, but… it was registered in March of 1999. More than 7 years ago.

If nothing else the Mozilla Foundation should be praised for such an incredible feat of forward thinking.

It’s not owned by the Mozilla Foundation, either.

This cracked me up a little…but I wonder who registered it? It’s quite a statement.

I think it’s more of a prank move than a statement intended to raise eyebrows and increase it’s incoming links.
I don’t think Microsoft is going to let it slip by. Remember the college student named Mike Rowe who was threathened because his site was named MikeRoweSoft.com. Microsoft sent him hundreds of pages of legal action saying the services he offered somehow affected it’s frontpage branding. Duh. :)
