Evaluation Ended for Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition

by Jason Bean on March 14th, 2008

vwde2008-trial-expires

Just tried to pop-open Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition and got this warning message.

DO WHAT?

It’s a free piece of software to download. It’s not a trial. Why am I getting this message?

What’s even more annoying is that when you click “OK” it just closes the program completely. No way to open it and go to “HELP” or something to see how to register this piece of free software.

Going to go to the website now and see if I can download it again and reinstall or what needs to happen.

This is just annoying.

UPDATE: Okay, looks like the previous install was considered the beta version. I have to uninstall and reinstall the final version. I sure hope I don’t lose anything I’ve been working on!

Not that I’m aware of at the moment. I uninstalled everything then installed the final version. It remembered all my settings of previously setup sites, so I didn’t lose anything.

Even though it is free software ???, it says that you still need to register the software so it won’t expire after the 30 or 60 day trial.
