Desktop Search for businesses
Microsoft has announced an updated version of its Windows Desktop Search. The new facility will search for information on individual PCs and on office intranets.
The announcement was made at a Microsoft I.T. Forum in Barcelona in Spain.
Two features emphasized by the company were file sharing and a single starting point for searches.
Google’s recent improvements to its business-class search services is thought to have spurred Microsoft’s efforts. Both are competing for a share of the estimated $600 million annual business spend on improving networks’ search and collaboration capabilities.
