Home Server Delayed

by Jason Bean on August 20th, 2007

The new Windows Home Server was scheduled to be released later this month. According to Mary Jo Foley, it doesn’t look like they’re going to make that date.

Long Zheng of istartedsomething.com discovered WHS as listed as “generally available” as of August 27 (according to Microsoft’s lifecycle support page last week). But that date is not what it seems, a Microsoft spokeswoman said.

“The only thing that is available on Aug. 27 is tech support for system builders,” she said.

Foley goes on to say that we can probably still expect it in late September or October, so that’s still some good news.

I need to go refresh my memory on the specs required to run the new server. I really think it’s going to deliver some great functionality to families with multiple computers and users.
