Macintelatosh ???

by Jason Bean on January 19th, 2006

I’m not sure if this term was originally used in this article or not, but they definitely seem to be happy with it as it’s used repeatedly.

The topic of the article is over the new potential of the Apple hardware with the new Intel chips and the pending possibility of Apple machines being able to run Windows software inherently.

I will admit, the idea of owning an Apple computer that could run all my existing Windows software is definitely a unique possibility. Maybe when I can actually get myself a laptop, I’d might look at something in the new MacBook arena.

People are going to go down to their Big Box store, look at the expensive, still-ugly PCs and the nice-looking Macs, compare the two side-by-side. They’ll take a cursory look at the user interfaces between Vista and the Mac and see, well, they look pretty much alike and they have the same chips in them and the Mac can run PC software in emulation (and maybe later more directly in some fashion) but the PC can’t run Mac-ware.

Sounds like Part Deux of the next Apple commercial touting Intel chips are here. I think one phrase they left out was:

People are going to go down to their Big Box store, look at the expensive, still-ugly PCs and the nice-looking Macs, compare the two side-by-side.

People are going to go down to their Big Box store, look at the expensive, still-ugly PCs and the nice-looking, more expensive Macs, compare the two side-by-side.

You know that’s just my opinion though. I’m sure it’s all a matter of comfort zone at this point, but I like the UI of Windows and whenever I use an Apple machine now, I keep thinking stuff is missing that should obviously be there. Kind of the same feeling you’d get if I asked you to type up your next letter to someone on your typewriter back in high school.
