More Feedback on Windows Live Writer

by Jason Bean on August 15th, 2006

I’ve been using Windows Live Writer for a couple of days now and overall I’m very happy with the tool. However two things that are irritating me.

  1. No “tag” support via the plug-ins installed on the blog itself. It would be a great feature for Windows Live Writer to somehow integrate with the plug-ins installed and provide the plug-in functionality within the Live Writer tool.
  2. Persistent posts. Wasn’t sure how else to describe this, but after you Publish a post, the post remains in the editing window. I guess this could be considered a feature, because you can continue to edit the post and publish it again, without duplicating posts on the blog. The only problem though is I want the post to close so I can start a new entry, maybe on the same blog, but more than likely one of my other blogs. As it stands now, if I “Close” the post it closes the entire window, and if I select “New” it opens an entirely new window.

The second problem defeats one of the great features of this tool: editing posts on multiple blogs from a single interface. I love that feature, I don’t want to have multiple windows open to get things done in this since.

Anyone else using the tool? What do you like and dislike?

I have been using it as well and like it. I would second your opinion on the multiple windows point. I don’t want it to open another window just because I want to post to another blog. Still, overall, I am VERY impressed with this tool.
