Running a Microsoft Virtual PC

by Jason Bean on March 18th, 2008

One of the ideas I’ve been poking around in my head is to jump into virtualization on my computer. The most recent reason I’ve thought about doing this is to try-out the new Internet Explorer 8 beta.

I don’t want to muck-up my real machine, but want to start playing around with this stuff and not kill my entire system.

This article on PC Magazine about running Windows in a window. The article really talks you through the steps you need to think about and walk you through what to expect.

The other thing that I thought was interesting in the article was that I can run virtual machines off of my external, portable hard drive. That’s a big deal for me, I’d like to upgrade the internal drive on my laptop, but I think I may be getting a new laptop at some point in the near future.

We’ll see.
