Using SQL Profiler Tool
I’ve been immersing myself in a lot of SQL work the past week or so for a project going on at work. I’ve come a long way in my knowledge of SQL up to this point and the past few days have expanded that understanding into some new areas as well.
One of those areas is on how to use some SQL Tools included with Microsoft SQL Server that allows you to really see under the hood of what’s going on in the database.
I came across an article titled “Introduction to SQL Profiler” by Mike Gunderloy on the developer.com website. It was a fantastic primer to get myself started. I should not that this article is as the information applies to SQL 2000, but that’s exactly what I was looking for since the client is running that version of the software on their own systems.
Mike has included some screen shots like the one above that really compliment what he’s sharing with what’s available to the user, how it works and the benefits you can receive and gain by using the tools that are included and provided to you. Mike’s screen shots are larger and clearer, but wanted you to get an idea of what you’re looking at when you work your way through his tutorial.
