Windows LiveWriter Cutting Off Category Labels
I absolutely love using Windows Live Writer to do all my blogging work. I think it’s a great tool, with loads of features and flexibility. After finding and downloading a number of additional plug-ins, I like it even more.
I’ve got a small little issue though. Something happened recently where the labels on my categories are getting cut-off. This makes it challenging when you keep adding more categories and can’t completely remember the full label for each one. The only way I can check if I don’t remember is to check the box and then see the full label listed down at the bottom of the window.
As you can see above, after checking “Indianapolis” as shown in the first image I can now see that the actual category label is “Indianapolis History”.
I just want to get this cleared up if there’s a fix out there. Does anyone know? If so, let me know.

Hi Jason,
That looks like a problem that Writer had in its Beta versions. We have a final version out now that I believe should fix this!

Charles, I’ve got the most current version of WLW installed as far as I know. Here’s my current version info: Version 2008 (Build 12.0.1367.1128)

You are definitely running the latest version! I am not sure what is causing this. Does this happen with every category name out there that is long or is there any other pattern you can ascertain?

At first I thought it was just long categories, then I saw some that are much longer. Then started counting characters, looking for letter patterns…nothing. I sure would like to figure it out. I think my next step may be to uninstall. The reinstall and setup each blog again, but that’s just annoying. Microsoft has built a great tool, I hate for it to not work on something seemingly simple like this.

I don’t think that reinstalling or configuring is likely to help. Let me try reproing on my local Wordpress account and I’ll see what I can figure out. I’ll post back here with details in a day or so…
