Xobni: E-mail Information Management in Outlook
I just received a beta invite to Xobni (which is “Inbox” backwards if you didn’t notice), which is a e-mail management add-on for Microsoft Outlook.
Xobni is the Outlook plug-in that saves you time finding email conversations, contacts and attachments.
After a quick install, you’ll see the new Xobni toolbar appear in Outlook - and suddenly information will become much easier to find. When a new email arrives, the sender’s full communication history appears in the Xobni sidebar, including past conversations, attachments and contact details. Xobni also includes a blazing fast email search tool.
I just got it installed and will be playing with it for the next few days. I can already tell that I’m going to really enjoy of the features available in this little application though. Briefly, when you open an e-mail (even in the preview window) you get a synopsis and overview of historical contact with the person the e-mail is from. Information like people connected to this person, previous conversations, attachments shared and more.

Jon, I don’t have any more invites to hand out. I’d love some. However, if you look up into the other earlier comments you’ll see a comment from the Xobni CEO offering more invites.

I had it installed for a couple of days and as I’m not a marketing person it all seems a bit of a gimmick to be honest.
I guess it’s only beta, but the “book some time” stuff just sends an email (rather than a meeting invite), the search function is already good in OL2007 and google and copernic (my fav).
The index never seemed to populate fully so it only included mails I’d opened not old ones so the stats were all wrong (I tried 2 pcs).
I can see how a sales person may like it, but it just seemed like extra power drain to me for a few pretty graphs. Even for marketing surely you’d want to know stats across the enterprise and departments??
Am I missing something?
